Newsletter: January / February 2005
Greetings In Jesus Mighty Name!
Another year has ended and a new one is upon us.
If you had the time, you may have looked in retrospect
upon the events of 2004.
We reflect, consider, interpret and hopefully learn
from those things both great and small that have
occurred in our lives.
We also may anticipate the year ahead.
We plan, pray and hope for a prosperous new year.
Perhaps our plans will work out and out goals will be achieved.
Perhaps not.
Scripture admonishes is to leave room for the
sovereign working of God's will in regard to our plans
and a willingness to accept His plans for us.
(James 4:13-15).
There are some certainties that have also been
given to us in God's Word.
These things we know are true.
1) We are a year closer to the return of Christ.
Paul tells us in Romans 13:11
"And do this knowing the time,
that it is high time to wake out of sleep:
for now our salvation is nearer that
when we first believed"
The context speaks of how we are to live in this world
in relation to governments, people, authority and
people in general.
Peter in his first epistle puts it this way,
"But the end of all things is at hand;
therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers,
and above all things have fervent love for one another
for love will cover a multitude of sins."
(1 Peter 4:7&8 NKJ).
You see there is an urgency to our lives.
It is to live in a way that adorns and bespeaks the gospel.
This is because there is a urgency to the Gospel.
Paul tells is in Romans 1:16,
"For it is the power of God to salvation".
How we live our lives is more important
than what temporal goals we may accomplish.
The events of our lives, planned or otherwise,
is the framework upon which we hang a quality of life lived
that speaks of our Lord and what He has done for us.
People need to know Jesus.
People need to know what He has done for us.
People need to know that their sins have been forgiven,
that death has been conquered,
that new life- -eternal life- - is being offered to them
in Christ.
We are closer to His coming or
to our going to be with Him,
than we were a year ago.
Let us be "not ashamed of the Gospel".
Let us because
"The night is for spent, the day is at hand...
cast off the works of darkness and
let us put on the amour of light"
(Romans 13:12).
Let us go into the year ahead
"forgetting those things which are behind and
reaching forward to those things which are ahead and
press towards the goal
for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ
Jesus" (Philippians 4:13 and 14).
In Christ,
Pastor Brent Moore
James 4:13-15
Come now, you who say,
"Today to tomorrow we will go to such and such a city,
spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit";
whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow.
For what is your life?
It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and
then vanishes away.
Instead you ought to say,
"If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that."
Romans 3:11
There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
1Peter 4:7-8
But the end of all things is at hand;
therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers, and
above all things have fervent love for one another
for love will cover a multitude of sins."
Romans 1:16
For I an not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ,
for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone
who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
Yosemite Community Church were privileged to have
Adam, Leigh Anne, Bethany, Bentley and Benjamin
as part of our church body for four years.
Adam was hired by Delaware North in the I.T. department.
Adam took care of the computer related problems,
installed new software and was on call 24/7.
Adam was dedicated to sharing the Gospel with co-workers and
was a strong Christian influence to all he came in contact with.
Adam and Leigh Anne have 3 children of which 2 were born in Yosemite.
They have one daughter and two sons.
This family will reside in Branson Missouri where
Adam will pursue his career and Leigh Anne will teach school.
They have purchased a home on thirteen acres
where their children can enjoy freely and explore
all of God's beauty.
I am sure they will enjoy all that God has for them in Missouri.
We will miss this family very much!
YCC will always remember the richness they offered to our church body.
Many blessings to you all!
The YCC Church Body.
Good Bye
Our annual Christmas Dinner was held December 5, 2004.
We usually have the dinner at the Yosemite Community School
in the Multipurpose room.
We had the time booked and two days before
we were to have our event
the construction workers came in and started
to demolish areas they were to remodel.
We were informed of this and readily tried to make other
arrangements in the park.
Pastor Brent and Faith put their heads together,
both on different phones calling various venues.
After many calls the 'East Auditorium' was available.
Another group was booked but gave up their time
so we could have our annual dinner.
What a blessing!!!
Now it was to get the word out about the change
in a day and a half.
Pastor Brent and Faith hit the payment running.
They made flyers and put them everywhere they were allowed.
They went to the Curry Village Christmas Bazaar and
handed out flyers to everyone in sight.
They prayed and prayed for those two days nonstop.
The dinner was such a success.
The attendance was more than in previous years.
Cynthia was in charge of the interactive play.
She does a wonderful job and we love her so much.
Peggy, who played Mary, sang a beautiful solo
"Breath of Heaven".
Many were moved to tears with her rendition.
Pastor Brent gave a powerful message of the
saving power of Jesus Christ.
Two community members were moved to ask
how they could come to know more about Jesus.
Pastor Brent and Faith now are counseling them
on a daily basis.
They have come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.
They are the happiest people who now influencing
others to know Jesus.
What a successful evening...
Pastor Brent and Faith thought it was going to be a
disaster...
we needed to trust in the Lord for everything!!!
